Thunder also visited school annually for the reenactment of the children's story
"The Cake That Mack Ate".

This year an agriculture inspection dog came in from the Dept. of Customs and Border Patrol (the dog is ranked as an officer, by the way) and he demonstrated his job which is sniffing out meats, vegetables and fruits that might be smuggled in. Milo and Canela came in for pet care and training experience for 2nd grade, and all week long we did academics such as reading chapters of  "Marley and Me" and watched and quizzed on AKC videos about training and different breeds. During this special week, all our activities were related to dogs- we did the Golden Retriever Club of America coloring book pages, and the kids were able to learn lots and lots about both proper care dogs, and how dogs are used to help protect our country from possible pests in agriculture smuggling. We even had a doggie bone shaped cake for desert one day!

2009-2010 Dog Days at School !
2008-2009 School Year with the Dogs
Since Milo was a puppy he has enjoyed the hugs, kisses and constant affection from my second grade students.
Milo is a charmer and perfect role model for students when learning about proper pet care and training.

When visiting my school, we go on a walking field trip to the vet, read related books and practice heeling and end with a "Doggy Days" party.
